“United Way and the netWORKS program give youth, like myself, the opportunity to go out there and find a passion, find what they want to do, and make it easier to navigate the job market.”
—Navy, netWORKS participant
Doors open to more opportunities when young people have access to strong professional networks. We launched netWORKS to help create those social opportunities and connections. The objectives of the program are to help youth meet new role models, and build and expand their professional networks. It also helps them develop networking and employment-focused skills, while getting real-world advice on how companies recruit and how different work environments operate.
netWORKS is a coordinated approach to career-oriented networking and mentoring. Mentors and mentees receive training, participate in group and invidividual networking sessions, and have the opportunity for more in-depth, structured one-on-one mentoring relationships.
