Chetan Malhotra with Kenn Richard, Executive Director at Native Child and Family Services of Toronto.

A family matter

Despite being a young student, Chetan Malhotra already has wise plans about making a difference. It's a value that's been taught at home, reinforced by teachers at Montrose Junior Pubic School, and fully embraced by the nine-year-old. For his "100th Day of School" project (a challenge to do or make something around the number 100), Chetan's focus was community. He ran a 100-day Go Fund Me campaign in support of United Way partner Native Child and Family Services of Toronto, and its ongoing work with local Indigenous children and their families. The final tally? An incredible $6,000! Proof that every "small" effort can be a mighty one.

With every issue of our e-newsletter, we highlight an organization or donor who goes above and beyond in making a real difference for our community, from the waterfront of Toronto to the southern shore of Lake Simcoe. We call them Community Heroes!
